FAQ

How is Coaching Different?

I will take the time to get to know you, learn how you work with money, uncover obstacles and provide a customized plan and the education necessary for you to implement it.

Your CPA does your taxes and has lots of other clients with similar needs. The same is true for your lawyer with your estate plan, or your financial advisor. None of these professionals has the time or cross disciplinary expertise needed to assess your entire financial situation, especially if you are going through a rough patch.

How Often Do We Meet?

I work with you and your schedule. Typically, we will have an initial two-hour intake session to gather the facts necessary to allow us to assess your state of financial health. You can then expect six to eight coaching sessions spaced over two to three months. The duration of the sessions is typically 30-60 minutes and they are held about every two weeks.

The time between sessions allows you the opportunity to implement the steps we agreed upon during the session just completed. For example, let’s say we find a gym membership that you are paying for but not using. Cancel the membership, then we check it off the list.

If we need to connect outside of these times, you will be able to set additional meetings as necessary.

What Financial Products Do You Sell?

None. Many others engaged in the financial services industry earn commissions by selling you annuities, life insurance, burial insurance, etc. Clearly, their interests and yours may not be the same.
The only thing I sell is advice custom tailored to your unique circumstances and the education necessary for you to achieve your financial goals. Ours interests are perfectly aligned because word of mouth is still the most powerful advertising.
I focus on education, mindset, behavior and habits. Any good athletic coach makes his players better. I will make you better at managing your money.

How Customizable is Coaching?

There are some foundational habits and behaviors everyone needs to master. I will adapt the concepts, principles, action items and resources to your unique needs and personality. I meet you where you are, rather than try to turn into someone else.

How Do We Meet?

Most coaching is performed virtually via Zoom but if you are local, I’d be open to meeting in person. I go back and forth between Manhattan and East Quogue frequently and have several friends in Northern New Jersey. Of course, I will respect your wishes with respect to the Covid19 situation which, hopefully, will end soon.

How is Confidentiality Addressed?

What happens in a coaching session, stays in a coaching session.

I do not collect any personal data (social security number, bank account info, etc.). I do not share your email or any other contact information with any outside agency, vendor or partner without your approval.

You need to feel safe in the coaching relationship and I do everything I can to make you feel comfortable.

How Do You Create a Safe Space?

This is a judgement free zone.

Coaching is about moving forward, not beating ourselves up over past mistakes. Regret, embarrassment, and guilt are common feelings clients share with me, but my job is to offer solutions that empower and uplift you.

How Long Until I See Results?

Results vary by client and the effort they put in, but most clients report that ‘peace’ has started even after their first meeting. It’s also common for my clients to experience improvement in their relationships and sleeping within 45 days. Financially, clients fully implementing the program report an average improvement of cash flow of $600 per month.
